Graphic board

The scribbled drawings in the images represent the graphics of my user ( Reuben Pereira ). Respectfully he constructed these sketches from listing to my previous audio assignments with his eyes closed. In the audio files it contained these instruments that are presented in the images above. I found this assignment very amusing due to the situation of having to conduct an image from listing to an instrument of feeling the mental emotions by converting this to a physical motion. The lines that a continuously persisting in a heart rate pattern are sounds that are instantaneous to the industrial sounds produced from the instruments. Lines that are operating in a straight motion are the sounds the persisted of scratching noises.

Statement/Joseph Amundsen

In contribution to this assignment I discovered information and history of the audio foundation, Reason being that i have researched the history of this building is because our ideas consisted on having indigenous sounds from the previous companies and industrial manufactures from this place and create music relevant to the sounds that these old industries use to create. I helped gather sounds for this building that we could add to our final piece. In the construction to manufacture our idea was to supply audio speakers and a simple iPod that could hold the music file. Throughout each stage on the stairs, the group three people from my group needed to operate the radios positioned on each level. I started off at the top level to kick off our assignment and as people persisted down the stairs, Tim Haines started the middle stage and towards the end Jason ended the assignment through playing the bell level which is the last stage. Using the effects of the stair well was an a advantage because it gave the noises produced a more resonating sound that helped build the adrenalin for the audience. Overall my contribution to this assignment was rather moderate due to our assignment being simple. To my perspective, simplicity travels further than complexity.

1939 – Bedding Manufactures
Incorporating the sounds of the bedding manufactures creates a distinctive construction sound that is difficult to imply into the stages. We struggled to find some bedding machinery sounds that we could use to put into our design. To take over this idea, we are going to imply sounds from the ties factory because the sounds that relate to the bedding manufactures have very similar sounds.

1941 – 42 Anchor printers, Gum tape manufactures, Midland ltd.
Incorporating the ideas of having printing sounds as a medallic effect that we can add into the mid stage of the stair way.

1950 - 51 Anchor printers, Lingerie manufactures, Anderus and sons
To apply these sounds into our project, we couldn’t find any textual sounds that we can input in with our other sounds. This is some research that we found from the Auckland street directory. Proves that from the 1940’s to the early 50’s that some of the factories still applied.

Researching Auckland Street Directory to find history for the Audio foundation building. Reason for this research is so that we can imply the history of the building to then incorporate the past then input this into the building, and to search for history of the past manufactures and businesses that were previous to the audio foundation so that we can then find natural sounds.

We came up with an idea of incorporating relevant sounds that will relate and reflect our ideas of having randomized sounds played upon each stage and level of the building. We are treating the stairs as if it they are the back bone or spine of the body. The main aspect upon this is that we have given the building a personality as a response to the idea of the ghost in the machine elements. We will be focusing our concept of vocalising the personality of the buildings natural pre-recorded sounds through taken from the foundations of the stairs and the heavy concrete construction. We want to express the personality of the building by giving each stage of the stairs a specific name and subject that will clarify our idea. The first stage will be classified as the brain because it contains a primary light that reflects the idea. We want to personify this notion of a spine in the way that at the top of the spine there is the brain, which we are representing with logic and clarity. As we descend down the spine we reach the centre heart of the stairs, which we are representing with emotion and desire. Upon further descent we reach the bowels, which we are representing with instinct and gut feeling. This is to relate to how the heart will jump from desire to desire, unsure of what it wants. Within this level we want to create an atmosphere that implies that the building is yearning for something more in its 'life', as if there should be more to its own existence.
Conveying the ideas of having different reflecting sounds that relates to each stage of the stairs personifies the personality of each individual stage. We researched in depth history of the building so that we could incorporate our music into our idea through each level of the stair way.

Final Presentation

This is the testing of my model and i added do other different models to the instrument to give the sound a more resonating effect. This altered the pitch and deepness of the horn so that when it came to the presentation, I can alter the pitch to contrast the other performing instruments

This is my final map the i constructed on Photoshop. I used this more metro station type design because i found it to be more legible to read and understand. For each section where the area line is thinner, this represents that the station is further away and so forth with having thicker lines represent the section of local in the Auckland region (area). I have added a key to this map so that the user will have a more optional idea of what and where the colour coordination goes to. Each colour represents a individual line of suburb or town the Transport vehicle travels to. For every black mark there is on the map represents a main town in Auckland. In addition to making this map stand out and look more professional like, I added a Maxx logo to interpret the design idea.

Session 4

Today Zoe illustrated some very interesting forms of videos about how people or percussionist produce different sounds and noises from an element created. One of the videos stood out the most to my attention where one of the produces used glass and pressed it to his face. He created the sounds by blowing at different angles on the glass creating and building multiple sound effects. This to me was very unique because it seemed ironic in a sense that it all seemed to be immature as if a child were to use this musical instrument. The music that he created to my perspective sound like it had a genre of heavy metal combined with dub that could possibly be used be a D.J.
Producers introduction retro futuristic music that moderately operates in a form of individuality. They illustrated some good range of contemporary music media files that influenced me to create instrumental instruments.

Sound Instrument

These images illustrate my idea of having a sound vibrating machine that operates simply with a balloon added on the top of the pvc pipe to create the vibration needed to build the heavy horn type sound. The air is set by the user compressing air into the balloon setting the the membrane off and then vibrating the balloon to then create different sounds. This unique idea created has a good relevant sound affect to a horn and acts in similar structures to the blow horn. The design was influenced by using a horn and observing at the effects created in the horn then manipulating that idea to construct this idea. I have added an additional bowl at the end to to give the idea a more eye catching effective look (instrumental) look.
