Final Product

End Product Design.

This is my final product fully completed in the design process. I have conducted this design because it flows and operates in contrast to my previous audio design that we used in the audio foundation. We used the stair wells to manufacture our idea of using different moderate sounds that represents the idea of giving each individual level its own voice. vocalizing the personality and consciousness of the building through pre-recorded sounds played through various speakers placed in different levels of stairs in the audio foundation building.. The uses of materials that I have used for this package basically operate around plastics (Perspex). My original idea evolved with creating the design to stand in a upright position in a 90 degree angle to reflect the medians of the stair well, Starting from the CD cover being in a flat position - this represents the first level, Then from gliding along the rails which this represents the idea of flowing down to the second stair level and then the package completing the stages to the end of it standing in a full upright position. I struggled with the fabrication process because my design needed to be manufactured through using a 3D printer to give my design a more effect and professional finish. The base needed to inform to be able to allow the CD cover to glide along the rails. This has limited and lacked my design to being able to turn upwards because the pins and the rails do not fit together properly. I had to laser print my product out into separate components and glue them all together. This was a total disadvantage because the entire product needed to be fabricated into one entire piece. We had no lecture to help us to use the 3D printing during the process of this assignment. My original idea was designed and developed perfectly. I took my product design into a CD packaging company to interview how my design will operate and if the foundations of this product will work. After interviewing my design, Forge said that the design will work to the foundations to both pieces, they said that the only thing that I needed to worry about were the pins and the rails. The pins and the rails are the main operational elements to this design. If I were to re-do this assignment, I will insure that the product manufacturing process will be calibrated to a higher standard and I will organise my materials properly to the standards of using proper and appropriate cardboard to reflect my original idea of nature being taken over by technology. Giving each piece of material its own voice. The CD design was constructed to inform the idea of distorted sounds that we used in the stair well, Aural Terrain project. I wanted to explore different contrasting images to pull the idea of the stair well. Imprinting the stairs on to the Compact disk and altering the threshold of the image reflects the idea of distorted sounds on each level.
